The Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend returns to the Walt Disney World Resort on November 2-5 with a series of events leading up to the big race. The nearly sold-out race weekend is expected to draw more than 45,000 runners, spectators, and fans, and it will finish with an exclusive after party at Epcot during the International Food & Wine Festival. This year’s race weekend will be better than ever, as 5K and Half Marathon participants race through Pandora for the first time.
Also new for this year, the 5K has been reimagined as the Disney Fall Feast 5K, and the expo will feature an interactive zone with fun for the whole family

– Transportation and Parking –
Transportation has been arranged for participants staying at host resorts. Buses will be indicated by runDisney signs placed in the front windows. Please, note that transportation is only provided to and from host resorts. Guests who do not stay at a host resort are responsible for their own transportation to and from race-related events.
Transportation schedule:
Thursday (Expo):
  • Host Resorts to and from EWWS: 9:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • EWWS to Host Resorts concludes at 8 p.m.
Friday (Expo):
  • Host Resorts to and from EWWS: 9:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • EWWS to Host Resorts concludes at 8 p.m.
Friday (5K):
Host Resorts to/from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park: 3:30 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. (participants must board a bus to Disney’s Animal Kingdom no later than 4:30 a.m. to be on time for race start. Those driving a personal vehicle must park no later than 3:30 a.m.).
Saturday (Expo):
  • Host Resorts to and from EWWS: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • EWWS to Host Resorts concludes at 4:30 p.m.
Saturday (10K):
  • Host Resorts to start line at Magic Kingdom Parking Lot: 3:30 a.m. – 5 a.m. (race participants must board a bus no later than 4 a.m. to be on time for race start).
  • Host Resorts to finish line at Epcot: 6 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
  • Shuttle between start and finish line: 3:30 a.m. – 6 a.m.
  • There will be no monorail transportation provided to race weekend events.
  • Guests at the Grand Floridian, Polynesian and Shades of Green will be permitted to walk to the start line via the approved walking path.
  • Transportation will continue throughout the morning for spectators.
Sunday (Half Marathon):
  • Host Resorts to start line at Magic Kingdom Parking Lot: 3 a.m. – 5 a.m. (race participants must board shuttles to Magic Kingdom Parking Lot no later than 4 a.m. to be on time for race start.).
  • Host Resorts to finish line at Epcot: 6-11 a.m.
  • Shuttle between start and finish line: 3-6:30 a.m.
  • There will be no monorail transportation provided to race weekend events.
  • Transportation will continue throughout the morning for spectators.

Winter Summerland To Close for Refurbishment

Guests visiting the Walt Disney World Resort in the coming weeks should keep in mind that, due to a scheduled refurbishment, the Summer Course at Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf will be closed from October 9 through October 23.
Both courses (the Summer Course and Winter Course) will be closed from October 23 through November 10, reopening on November 11. Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will remain open for Guests during that time.
During the refurbishment, the carpet of both courses will be replaced, and some of the props seen around the courses will be repainted and/or replaced (minor work was already performed around the courses a few months ago).

Grand Floridian Changes to Tea Party & Pool Hours

You finally have an excuse to go into Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Starting from this week, “Disney’s Perfectly Princess Tea” (a special event that regularly takes place at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa) will begin at 9 a.m. every day except Tuesdays and Thursdays. “Afternoon Tea” (a separate event that takes place at the same resort) will be available from noon–4 p.m. daily. For booking, Guests are invited to visit the “My Disney Experience” website or app. Guests may also visit the resort’s Concierge desk to learn more about these events.
Additionally, starting from this month, the Beach Pool and the Beach Pool Water Play Area at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will operate during the hours of 10 a.m.-8 p.m. The operating hours of the Courtyard Pool will remain 7 a.m.-11 p.m.

FerryTale Wishes Dessert Cruise Returns in December

Prepare to set sail on the Seven Seas Lagoon for the return of a fireworks dessert cruise like no other aboard the iconic double stack ferryboat, the General Joe Potter, magically transformed into a ‘ferrytale’ vessel! On select nights in December and January, guests will enjoy specialty desserts and beverages and conclude the evening with viewing of the spectacular fireworks show that lights up the sky over Magic Kingdom.
The cruise officially returns to the Walt Disney World Resort on Fridays and Sundays, from December 1, 2017 through January 28, 2018. Reservations are now open and can be made online or by calling 407-WDW-DINE. This is a pre-paid experience, available for $99, $69 ages 3-9, per person, including tax and gratuity. A 10% discount for Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Members, and Cast Members will apply.
