Party for the Planet Returns to Animal Kingdom

The upcoming documentary feature from Disneynature hits theaters on April 21, just in time for Earth Day and “Party for the Planet” (a special event that includes multiple activities available to all Guests visiting Disney’s Animal Kingdom throughout the day).

Born in China follows the adventures of three animal families: the majestic panda, the savvy golden monkey and the elusive snow leopard. To celebrate the film’s release, several of the activities in Party for the Planet will be themed to Born in China.

Among the special offerings that will be available around the theme park, Guests will find the following:

•”A Leopard’s Journey” activity at Maharajah Jungle Trek;

•”Born in China” activity pack distribution at Maharajah Jungle Trek;

•”Born in China” Disney PhotoPass Magic Shot at select photo locations.

Additionally, Disneynature will make a donation to benefit wild pandas and snow leopards in honor of Guests who see “Born in China” on opening week,  For everyone who sees the film from April 21-27, Disneynature will contribute $0.20 per ticket to World Wildlife Fund (WWF) with a minimum guaranteed donation of $100,000.

Disney Springs AMC Introduces Seat Selection

Beginning Monday, November 7, moviegoers will have the opportunity to pick their seat when buying tickets for any film playing at AMC Disney Springs 24.

Similar to Dine-in theaters, Guests can reserve their seat in advance online, via the mobile app, at an automated box office machine, or at the theater box office. Seat numbers will be clearly marked on the tickets and in the theater to assist Guests with finding their seat.

Moana Preview Coming To DHS

For a limited time starting from Saturday, November 5, a sneak peek of Disney’s newest animated film, “Moana” will be presented as part of the Walt Disney – One Man’s Dream attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, offering Guests an advance look at scenes from the film. “Moana” is the story of an adventurous teenager who sails out on a mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana meets the once-mighty Maui, who guides her in her quest.

Together, Moana and Maui they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous mosters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought – her own identity.

Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess and the Frog”) and produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”), “Moana” sails into theaters in 3D on November 23.

Disney Sets New Box Office Records With Debut of ‘Captain America: Civil War’

The Walt Disney Studios set new industry records this weekend as Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War made its domestic debut with a huge $179.1 million, making it the fifth biggest opening of all time and giving Marvel Studios four out of the top six opening weekends ever. The superhero smash-up has brought in $494 million internationally for an incredible $673.1 million globally after just 12 days. 

A major new market this weekend was China, where Captain America: Civil War earned $95.8 million. Across the Asia-Pacific market, it has already entered the top 10 films of all time in many countries.

Captain America: Civil War is the third Disney movie to land in the top five of 2016 domestically and globally. Disney’s The Jungle Book has taken in $287.9 million in the U.S. and Canada so far during a three-week run at #1 and stands at #3 globally with $779.5 million and major territories Korea and Japan still to open. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Zootopia is the #1 release of the year globally with $958.1 million, including $328.1 million domestically and $630 million internationally.

These major successes, along with Star Wars: The Force Awakens, have pushed The Walt Disney Studios’ overall 2016 box office past $1 billion domestically, $2 billion internationally, and $3 billion globally, breaking industry records set last year by more than a month.

Still ahead this year for Disney are Alice Through the Looking Glass(May 27), Disney•Pixar’s Finding Dory (June 17), The BFG (July 1),Pete’s Dragon (Aug. 12), Queen of Katwe (Sept. 23), Marvel’s Doctor Strange (Nov. 4), Disney Animation’s Moana (Nov. 23), and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (Dec. 16).
