Jaleo to Open March 17th

José Andrés’ ThinkFoodGroup has just announced that the much-anticipated Jaleo will open their brand new location at Disney Springs on March 17. The new restaurant will bring the spirit and flavors of Spain along with 280 new jobs to the Walt Disney World Resort. This is the fifth Jaleo location in the U.S., the first in Florida, and the largest location to date.

Jaleo at Disney Springs will feature an extensive menu of tapas reflecting the rich regional diversity of traditional and contemporary Spanish cuisine, as well as sangrias and a premier selection of Spanish wines. Highlights include a variety of authentic paellas cooked over a wood-fired paella pit, Spanish specialties like hand-carved Jamon Iberico de Bellota and wood-grilled Iberico pork, and signature dishes like Gambas al ajillo, shrimp sautéed with garlic and chili, and Pollo Croquetas, classic Spanish chicken fritters.

Pepe by José Andrés will open for both lunch and dinner beginning March 17 as the first brick and mortar location of the chef’s famous Spanish food truck. “Pepe by José Andrés will offer a diverse menu of Spanish sandwiches, or bocatas, both hot and cold, as well as gazpacho and salads to go. The quick-service location will also sell delicious Spanish sangria, complete with sangria ice cubes to prevent any dilution of the drink in the Florida climate.”

Designed by renowned Spanish designer Juli Capella, the architectural form of the building housing both Jaleo and Pepe is inspired by the bold, playful nature of Spain featuring petals that organically open, inviting guests to enter and experience the very best of Spanish cuisine. The petals themselves form pergolas, which extend toward the outdoors, allowing light to flow in and out.

Aunt Polly’s to Open for a Limited Time

Magic Kingdom Park guests are invited to take a lunch break from their pioneering adventure to enjoy food from Aunt Polly’s, a seasonally operated quick service restaurant located on Tom Sawyer Island. Aunt Polly’s will be open during lunch March 9-16 from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Names Revealed for Club 33 Locations in WDW

Walt Disney imagined an elegant, exclusive club that would serve as a place for conversation, and, in turn, be a conversation piece in its own right. Club 33 would become the private, luxurious, yet relaxed setting Walt had envisioned, and it opened its doors at Disneyland Resort on June 15, 1967.

Now, 50 years later, a new chapter in the club’s history has begun at Walt Disney World Resort, with the opening of four Club 33 lounges beginning in 2018 with the Spotlight Lounge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Each of the planned lounges will have its own unique story and connection to Walt Disney. For example, at Spotlight Lounge, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the elegant space recreates the stylish “green room” experience of a major film awards ceremony and celebrates Walt’s award-winning cinematic career. Club 33 members may now or in the near future also experience Constellation Club at Epcot, Captain’s Quarters at Magic Kingdom Park, and Harambe House at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

Fairfax Fare to Test Breakfast Service

From Sunday, April 22 to Saturday, May 5, Fairfax Fare will be testing a breakfast menu at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. At this quick-service location found on Sunset Boulevard, park guests will be able to enjoy the following breakfast items (menu subject to change without notice and based on availability):

  • Hot oatmeal and fresh berries with brown sugar and maple glaze
  • Loaded scrambled eggs with chorizo, peppers, onions and potatoes
  • “Breakfast on a Bun” with eggs, ham, swiss and spinach on an herb cheese-smeared onion roll
  • Freshly-baked pastry basket featuring miniature baked goods
  • Fresh fruit
  • Yogurt
  • Toasted bagels
  • Assorted beverages
  • Kids’ scrambled eggs and potatoes

As a reminder, Fairfaxe Fare‘s regular lunch menu will be served starting at 11:30 a.m.

Work is ongoing at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort as part of a huge renovation. Centertown, the hub of the resort, closed last summer to make way for new offerings.

One of the new offerings is a quick service location named Spyglass Grill. Here is the menu that will debut when it opens to guests later this year.

New Menu at Fantasy Faire Food Truck

Beginning this week, the Fantasy Fare food truck will debut a brand-new menu in its new location in the Marketplace at Disney Springs, located between Basin and World of Disney. Beyond dishing up a new fare, the location will continue to serve walk-up guests and will begin running food to guests visiting Dockside Margaritas.

One of the new additions is Picadillo Beef Empanadas, featuring hand stuffed ground beef in fried, crispy pastry dough, topped with fresh salsa, sour cream, and guacamole:

With Peruvian style shrimp and tilapia ceviche, topped queso fresco, red cabbage and lime sour crème, the Ceviche Tacos are a fresh addition to the menu:

The Chicken Taquitos feature classic flavors all rolled into one: Adobe braised chicken in a fried corn tortilla that is tossed in tomatillo sauce, topped with queso fresco and pico de gallo:

Portobello to Reopen as Terralina

A new Italian restaurant, Terralina Crafted Italian, is slated to open this fall at Disney Springs on the site of the former Portobello Country Italian Trattoria. James Beard Award-winning Chef Tony Mantuano will curate the new menu, and Chef Justin Plank will return from Portobello to run the kitchen.

The restaurant is getting a multimillion-dollar makeover, inspired by the design and lifestyle of Italy’s Lake District. The new space will be reminiscent of an Italian home, with an open kitchen, dining rooms with eclectic decor and a new veranda bar outside the main entrance.

Chef Mantuano’s authentic Italian cuisine (much of it infused with his signature olive oil imported directly from Italy) will include artisanal pizzas and fresh vegetable dishes fired up in a wood-burning oven. Two new signature dishes — mussels and a grilled pork chop — will be on the menu, along with favorites from Portobello, such as the antipasti platter and signature pastas.

Terralina will be open for lunch and dinner — check back for opening dates.

 

 

 

Time Change for Dine With An Animal Specialist

Beginning Wednesday, November 22, the Dine with an Animal Care Specialist program at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge will move from a noon start time to an 11 a.m. start time.
This offering, which gives participants the opportunity to interact with an animal expert while enjoying a 4-course lunch at the popular Sanaa restaurant in Kidani Village, is available to Walt Disney World guests twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays). Guests must be at least 8 years old to be able to participate.

Here’s the details of the Dine with an Animal Care Specialist program:

Learn about the over 200 animals roaming just outside the windows of Sanaa as you savor an African-inspired feast.
Zebras, giraffes, gazelles, crowned cranes and more—roam the 4 savannas of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge & Villas. At a private table facing the Sunset Savanna, discover fun facts about their care, current field research and Disney’s role in conservation when you dine with an Animal Specialist!

The Feast
Enjoy Indian-style bread service, salads, slow-cooked meats, and desserts. Options abound for meat lovers, vegans, and vegetarians alike, while little ones can choose from child-size portions of the adult fare or familiar favorites on the kids menu. In order to provide a more intimate experience, this lunch is limited to 12 Guests.

Allergen Guides Coming to all Disney Buffet Restaurants

New allergen guides are coming this month to all buffet locations at Walt Disney World Resort (with the exception of Boma—Flavors of Africa, which will begin on June 5).

This enhancement is designed to further elevate levels of service around the resort, offering additional focus and alternatives for a growing population of guests with food allergies and intolerances. The new allergen guides address the most common dietary allergens, including gluten/wheat, milk, egg, peanut, tree nut and fish/shellfish.

Various menu strategies have been tested at select restaurants in the past. The results from the test proved that the availability of allergen guides have significant benefits to guests.

Be aware that the availability of allergen guides does not replace the guest’s option to consult directly with a Special Diets Trained Cast Member regarding menu offerings suitable for their dietary requirements. Guests should continue to notify a Cast Member at the location if they have any dietary needs.
