Captain’s Grille Relocation

Screenshot_20170514-190336

Work has begun in preparation for multiple refurbishment projects at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts. To ensure guests have a great dining experience throughout the refurbishment, some of the existing food & beverage offerings will be moved to other areas of the resort for a limited time. One of these will be Captain’s Grille, which will be relocated to Ariel’s on May 26 until fall 2017 due to refurbishment. The final day of operation for Captain’s Grille and the Ale & Compass Lounge will be May 24.

While the restaurant will be operating in this temporary location (which can be accessed via the Resort lobby), the breakfast buffet will not be available. À la carte options will still be available to guests.

1. Dine with Animal Specialists

A dining experience hosted by a Disney animal specialist is available to guests at Sanaa at Kidani Village, located in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Over lunch, an animal expert reveals facts and myths about wildlife as guests immerse themselves in the culture and flavors of Africa. There’s no more perfect setting, as Sanaa’s windows frame grazing zebra and giraffes, Ankole Cattle and White-Bearded Wildebeest. The experience accommodates up to 12 guests, offering an intimate, fun insider’s view, with plenty of time for questions.

Adding flavor to the experience, a 4-course African-inspired lunch made in Sanaa’s tandoor ovens boasts many delicacies, such as warm naan bread, savory dips, slow-cooked meats, unusual sweets and more. After dessert, diners venture to a savanna lookout, to observe and learn more about the exotic animals grazing the landscape.

The Animal Specialist experience takes place every Wednesday and Saturday from 12-1:45 p.m. Cost is $49, $29 ages 3 to 9 (special kid’s menu). The price includes the gratuity plus a $5 contribution to Disney’s Worldwide Conservation Fund. To make a reservation, call 407-938-6922, option 3 or stop by Animal Kingdom Lodge concierge. Reservations are also available at DisneyWorld.com/Dining or by calling 407-WDW-DINE (939-3463) up to 180 days prior to the experience.

For an elegant evening voyage, romantic music sets the mood as the sun sets over the gabled roofs of the Grand Floridian. On select nights, cruisers can view “Wishes,” a magnificent fireworks display above Magic Kingdom.  Those on board are treated to synchronized audio from the show.

For the ultimate cruise, the Grand Floridian private-dining staff can prepare anything from an evening snack to a gourmet five-course meal with fine wine pairings. A private-service butler can also cater to guests’ every need. As many as 18 people can sail for $553 per hour, including charter fee, boat captain and deckhand. 6. Afternoon Game Drive Paired with Dinner at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Savannas surrounding Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge offer up a panorama of wildlife as creatures large and small roam the grasses, forage for food and play in harmony. The grounds are home to approximately 200 mammals and exotic birds representing a cross-section of the African palette – bongo, greater kudu, zebra, wildebeest, impala, African spoonbills and Eastern white pelicans, to name a few.

Just before sunset, eager adventurers gather outside the lodge with a guide for a thrilling game-viewing safari. Up to 12 persons can board a specially designed vehicle for a bird’s-eye view of a typical North African safari.

Safari-goers are wide-eyed as many animals move within feet of the vehicle. Cameras and videos are poised to capture the Africa-like wonders.

The second part of the journey leads to the resort’s signature restaurant, Jiko-The Cooking Place, where a savory South African feast awaits safari-goers. Flavors of Africa fill the air in a memorable multi-course meal served family-style and blending regional spices and grains. Popular South African wines are paired with each course, which includes a sweet display of desserts.

The Wanyama Safari is offered to guests (age 8 and up) staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, seven days a week at 4 p.m. For reservations, guests can call 407-938-4755, or visit the concierge desk at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge upon check-in.

During the voyage, children (ages 4-12) enjoy a reading of “The Legend of Gasparilla” (a real Florida pirate), lunch and other surprises. Planet Hollywood’s New “Guy” to Develop A Specialty Sandwich Menu for America’s Iconic Celebrity-Themed Restaurant.

Planet Hollywood, America’s preeminent restaurant destination dedicated to celebrating the entertainment industry, announced today that dynamic chef, restaurateur and television personality Guy Fieri will introduce a flavor-packed burger and sandwich menu as part of their larger menu offerings for the transformed Orlando flagship location, set to reopen this fall as the Planet Hollywood Observatory at Disney Springs.

Repeatedly at the forefront of industry trends, Robert Earl, the entrepreneur, restaurateur and star of the Cooking Channel’s “Robert Earl’s Be My Guest®,” reached out to Fieri because of their shared passion for food. In addition to the section designed by Fieri, the Planet Hollywood Observatory will soon reveal the entire new menu featuring a wide variety of offerings and bold flavors.

“Guy Fieri has created an impressive culinary empire and has built an incredible TV following with several food-themed shows, so it was a no-brainer to invite him to create a special menu for Planet Hollywood Observatory. This partnership only furthers our commitment to refresh our guest experience while continuing to offer freshly-prepared, pleasing dishes,” said Planet Hollywood International Founder and Chairman Robert Earl.

Fieri, a chef, entrepreneur and New York Times bestselling author, has brought his signature blend of authentic-meets-surprising flavors to new dishes such as the Prime Time American Kobe-Inspired Burger and the Turkey Pic-a-nic Sandwich, a perfect accompaniment to Planet Hollywood’s creamy hand-dipped milkshakes. The menu will also feature new over-the-top creations that will have guests craving more after the first bite.

“It’s awesome to be working with Robert Earl and the Planet Hollywood Team,” states Fieri. “For the Planet Hollywood Observatory, I’m bringing a big time burger and sandwich menu with real deal flavors for everyone.”

Opening this fall, the Planet Hollywood Observatory is centrally located and will overlook the heart of Disney Springs with a newly expanded outdoor terrace and bar. Within the sophisticated entertainment emporium, patrons of all ages will be invited to “Dine Amongst the Stars” through distinctive indoor and outdoor bar and lounge options, an imaginative new merchandise line, and a host of all-star celebrity collaborations.

New dining options will highlight Planet Hollywood’s timeless classics and introduce Fieri’s updated creations. A curated beverage program will feature a variety of milkshakes, smoothies, wines, bottled and draft beers, as well as cocktails served in specialty glassware to cater to the needs of all guests, from groups with small children to young adults and seniors. Spacious dining rooms ensure comfort for family meals while various bar spaces set the mood for a perfect date.

The exterior will be reminiscent of a turn-of-the-century observatory with a modern design aesthetic, while the interior’s refurbished upholstery, spherical planet-shaped lighting fixtures and stylish finishing will create a welcoming atmosphere for fans to celebrate a new generation of superstar entertainers.

Turkey Legs to be gone from DHS

fhajdh184621

As of August 2nd,  there will be a few changes to the menus at the Sunset Ranch area quick service locations.

The plan is to offer  more traditional Farmer’s Market choices.  Fairfax Faire will offer a selection of baked potato options including a tradtional “loaded” potato as well as one stuffed with tri-tip, gravy, & cheddar.

Toluca Legs Turkey will be renamed Sunshine Day Cafe, and offer a menu more reflective of a day at the market.  This means, yes, no more turkey legs at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This follows the decision to get rid of them at Animal Kingdom a few months back.
